Hyderabad: Protests continue for new districts in Gadwal and Nirmal even as government expedited the process and came out with maps on Friday.
Gadwal Zilla Sadhana Samiti, comprising all Opposition parties, observed a 72-hour bandh in Gadwal town demanding Gadwal be made a new district.
The government has proposed Kalwakurthy, Mahbubnagar and Nagarkurnool districts, while Congress MLA D.K. Aruna and other leaders are backing the demand for Gadwal district.
Meanwhile, seven councillors of Siricilla municipality resigned from their posts to protest the denial of district status to Siricilla town.
Protests were also witnessed in Korutla and Husnabad.
