Thiruvananthapuram: Gang arrested for illegal gambling

The arrest was recorded at the Vanchiyoor police station. Santhosh and Sidhique were the persons who arranged the gambling.

Thiruvananthapuram: Shadow Police on Friday arrested a gang engaged in illegal gambling. The modus operandi of the gang was to play card with money after taking rooms in hotels of the city. An amount of Rs 75,000 was also recovered from their hand.

The arrested were Ashokan, 55, of Sasthamangalam, Santhosh Kumar, 42, of Perunthanni, Sharat, 30, of Valiyathura, Anilkumar, 55, of Kuriyathi, Shivarajan, 47, Baby Kuttan, 42, Sajeev, 41, all natives of Ambalathara, Kunjumon, 43, of Koppam of Nedum-angad and Sidhique, 34, of Punthura.

The arrest was recorded at the Vanchiyoor police station.Santhosh and Sidhique were the persons who arranged the gambling. After taking rooms in hotels, they would inform persons from various locations, and played cards with money throughout the night. Most of the people arrested had been accused in similar cases in the past.

The arrest was made by a team headed by special branch A.C. Pramod Kumar, Control Room AC Shivasuthan Pillai, Vanchiyoor SHO Nissam, SI Safeer, Shadow police ASIs Yashodaran and Arunkumar.
