Hyderabad: 747 Haj pilgrims embark on Day 1

This year, more than 9,000 pilgrims from Telangana state, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra will depart for Haj from Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Two flights carrying the first batch of 747 pilgrims embarked for Haj from the Shamshabad airport on Friday.

This year, more than 9,000 pilgrims from Telangana state, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra will depart for Haj from Hyderabad.

Earlier ministers and theologians flagged off the pilgrims at Haj House. Home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali advised the pilgrims to spend more time in prayers and show patience in the holy places. He requested them to pray for the prosperity of the country and the state.

He congratulated Haj Committee for providing better facilities for pilgrims at Haj Camp this year. Ministers Koppula Eshwar and T. Srinivas Yadav and deputy mayor Baba Fasihuddin and others also spoke.
