Bengaluru: Look at the tyre, not the car
Bengaluru: Tyre burst cases resulting in fatal accidents on highways have become a major cause for concern for vehicle riders. People who visit faraway places on rented four-wheelers are advised to be extra careful about the condition of the vehicle tyres."The vehicle could be shining, but if tyres are flat, you are on a death ride," warned experts.
There have been a number of cases of tyre burst on national highways when vehicles are on high speed. Such accidents in different parts of the state have proved fatal not only for occupants but also passersby.
Tyres should be replaced after they complete their run of 40,000 to 50,000 km, otherwise old tyres burst when they hit even a small stone. Once the tyre bursts, driver loses control and causes the accident.
Experts also warned drivers against putting back tyres in the front to save cost as it could prove fatal. Keeping the right amount of air pressure too is neglected by car owners, they said.
