TRS loses 'Parkal Municipal Council' to Congress

The Opposition is in majority and the Congress secured the numbers to take over the council following the defection of the two TRS leaders.

Warangal: The Congress took over the Parkal Municipal Council after a no-confidence motion moved by TRS councillors against chairman Raja Bhadraiah and vice-chairman Ramya Krishna boomeranged on them in the Warangal Rural district.

The chairman and vice-chairman belong to the TRS and did not find support from other parties, As a result, differences arose between the chairman and council members.

When they moved the no-confidence motion, both Mr Bhadraiah and Ms Krishna joined the Congress.

The Opposition is in majority, and the Congress secured the numbers to take over the council following the defection of the two TRS leaders.

The vote for the no-confidence motion was scheduled at 11 pm on Thursday but only two councillors turned up. When revenue divisional officer Mahenderji postponed the polling to the afternoon, no one turned up.

The Congress cadre celebrated the victory. Parkal constituency incharge Enagala Venkatram Reddy said that the TRS was overconfident in calling for the no-confidence motion which only resulted in them losing the council to the Congress.

“The people are losing confidence in the TRS government because of its anti-people policies. This result must teach a lesson to the TRS. The Congress will come to power in the 2019 elections,” he said.
