No coracle service in Hogenakkal, as Cauvery level rises
Dharmapuri: Here is some good news for Cauvery delta farmers in Tamil Nadu. The Dharmapuri district administration has asked the coracle owners not to operate the services till further orders due to increase in the inflows into Cauvery here.
The inflow into the state was measured as 6,000 cusecs on Wednesday morning by the Central Water Commission (CWC) office here at Biligundulu, the border point from where Cauvery waters enter Tamil Nadu from the upper riparian state of Karnataka.
According to PWD sources, the water received here is the release from the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) and Kabini dams in the nieghbouring state where good rainfall was reported in Cauvery's catchment areas in recent days, leading to the increased storage capacity in the dams in Karnataka.
“The water was released because of the increase in the storage level of Karnataka dams due to the good rainfall in the catchment areas in that state,” a PWD officer said.
