Land scam: N Chandrababu Naidu exudes confidence on SIT probe

SIT will not spare any one in land grabbing: Naidu.

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday stated that the state government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) will not spare anyone, irrespective of political party’s allegiance, found involved in land scams in Vizag. Dismissing opposition parties’ comment that “SIT is a snake without fangs”, Mr Naidu said people have faith on SIT as it has received thousands of complaints and it will give the best report to the government over the tampering of land records.

Speaking at a public meeting after distributing pattas (title deeds) under two different GOs at Pragati Maidan at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant here in Vizag, Mr Naidu said the TD government has formed SIT to conduct inquiry into tampering of land records in Vizag city and other parts of the district. The TD government would not hesitate to take action against the TD leaders if their guilt is proved in the SIT’s report in land scams, he said.

“The SIT has been praised for its style of functioning. Based on the SIT report, we will initiate action in such a way that no one would think to grab a piece of land in the state,” he said. “We are examining recommendations from public to introduce online land registration system,” he said. Referring to Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham’s ‘Chalo Amaravati’ padayatra demanding quota for the Kapu community, Mr Naidu said some people have been trying to create unrest in the state. “The Congress had ignored the Kapus in the state, but the TD government announced Rs 1,000 crore for Kapu Corporation and is committed for the welfare of Kapus,” he added.
