Hyderabad police seize 1,000 litres of pig oil
Hyderabad: Over 1,000 litres of oil prepared from pig fat was confiscated on Wednesday after Neerdmet police raided two illegal units located below Ramakrishnapuram flyover.
The police apprehended one Suresh Kumar for manufacturing pig oil and the owner of the unit. The team confiscated five drums of oil made from pig fat, each containing 200 litres. The units are operating illegally in residential areas.
Mithlesh Kumar was earlier arrested under Section 133 of the CrPC.
Ramakrishnapuram, especially the area below the flyover, is the centre for pig oil production. Following a complaint from residents in the locality, the Rachakonda police raided the units.
The city municipal corporation has issued closure notice to four oil manufacturing units, though locals say there are six more units and the owners were trying to expand. The demand for pig oil is high, especially from Chinese food vendors.
