Bengaluru: Chefs whip up culinary delight using millets

The event saw culinary demonstrations and exhibitions by leading chefs on various dishes made from millets.

Bengaluru: The two-day millets foods for dieticians and chefs saw participation of over 100 dieticians and 50 leading chefs from the city, apart from participants from 20 colleges, take part on Wednesday.

The event saw culinary demonstrations and exhibitions by leading chefs on various dishes made from millets, with an aim to reach the mass audience and educate them on the health benefits of this ancient forgotten crop, said agriculture minister Krishna Byregowda.

It was great to see the various unique dishes that the top chefs from across the city have showcased. The platform was an excellent knowledge exchange session for chefs and dieticians from various establishments, he said.

Unique dishes like Smoked Chicken Salad with Crispy Foxtail Millet, Pan Seared Chicken with Millet Stew and Sauternes Sauce and Spinach Stuffed Millet Ravioli with Primavera Sauce, Millet Waffles, Finger Millet Cake with Hot Garlic Sauce, Chicken Dish, Millet Kashmiri Kofta in Palak Gravy, Sorghum Stuffed Kulcha, Millet Manchurian, Ragi Banana Cake, Ragi Shots, Foxtail Millet Crisps with Millet Sprouts, Smoked Kodo Millet Kebab with Yoghurt Dip Finger Millet Tacos, Paella, Millet Risotto, Millet, Cottage Cheese and Spinach Tikki, Greek Yoghurt Cake with Citrus Glaze and Toffee Choco Tart with Caramel Sauce were displayed.
