Hyderabad gets month's highest rainfall
Hyderabad: The city on Tuesday received the highest rainfall this month at 49.5 mm. The IMD recorded another heavy downpour in the evening at 7.8 mm. The total rainfall thus recorded was 57.3 mm, nearly 6 cm. The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.9ºC. Golconda and Khairatabad areas recorded the highest rainfall (5 cm) followed by Malkajgiri (3 cm) and JNTU- Kukatpally (2 cm).
So far in July, Hyderabad has received 15 cm of rain against the month’s average of 18 cm. Tuesday’s was the highest (49.5 mm) followed by July 19 (46.8 mm). Heavy to very heavy rain was recorded at Banjara hills, Jubilee Hills, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Alwal and Kapra Circle. The Southwest Monsoon has been active over Telangana with the trough now running from Vidarbha to South Tamil Nadu across Telangana and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The upper air cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and adjoining Vidarbha and north Madhya Maharashtra extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level.
On Tuesday heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded across the state, Warangal topped with 12 cm. Karimnagar received 10 cm, Nizamabad 7 cm and Adilabad 5 cm. With regular rains in July, the negative rainfall reading has come down from -15 to -10 per cent. As on Tuesday, the state has received 15 per cent excess rains. After effects of the rain There were major water stagnation points at Jalagam Vengal Rao Park, KCP junction, Raj Bhavan Road, Model House, Rang Mahal junction, Begum Bazaar police station, Green Lands and Begumpet.
