Mysuru: A committee which included the new University of Mysore (UoM) Vice Chancellor,Mr Umesh and Registrar Mr Rajanna have reportedly withdrawn the suspension orders of two professors who had participated in a programme organised to allegedly campaign for former CM Siddaramaiah in April during the Assembly elections. They were suspended for alleged violation of the model code of conduct. One of the suspended professors, Prof. Mahesh Chandra Guru of the department of journalism, UoM, revealed this to the media. “The decision to revoke the suspension was taken by the UoM Syndicate at its meeting held recently. We have subsequently reported for work,” he said. Besides him, Prof. Aravinda Malagaththi of Kannada Adyayana Samsthe of UoM was also suspended.
They had participated in a programme titled 'Save Indian Constitution' hosted by Hindulida Vargagala Vedike and Pragathipara Chinthakaru in Chamundeswari constituency near Ramakrishna Circle here during the polls. As per the directive of the district election officer, the then UoM registrar Ms Bharathi had reportedly recommended to thethen UoM incharge vice chancellor C Basavaraj to suspend them. Prof. Mahesh Chandra Guru claimed that they had participated in the programme as mere resource persons.
