Hyderabad: Saplings planted to block parking

He hoped that planting trees would prevent misuse of the park land.

Hyderabad: Residents of Seshachalam Colony, West Marredpally, in Ward 5 of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board say that a parcel of land which is meant for the colony park, is being used as a parking lot by heavy vehicles. Residents have planted trees in the park to prevent parking of vehicles.

Explaing how they came up with the idea, resident N. Ramesh said that, “Heavy vehicles are being parked in the area, preventing children from playing there. Besides, we don’t have any park related infrastructure.”

He hoped that planting trees would prevent misuse of the park land. Former vice-president V. Jai Prakash who participated in the event, said, “Planting trees and placing ‘no parking’ boards are ways by which we can prevent people from parking on this plot of land.”

Colony residents also discussed common issues including irresponsible garbage dumping and water problems. They decided to give a representation to the SCB detailing their problems.
