Governors or Lt Guvs have got no right to interfere in govt affairs: Pondy CM

The Chief Minister also continued his allegations against Ms Bedi of hindering the developmental projects.

Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Tuesday said that governors or Lt Governors of the states have got no right to interfere in the routine functioning of the government.

Refering Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit undertaking visits to different districts of the state for review meetings, the Chief Minister said neither the governor nor the Lt Governor have got any power to intervene into the day-to-day affairs of an elected government.

The Chief Minister's statement came as a response to Tamil governor's warning of imprisonment and fine for those who protest the Governor's exercise of power as per the Constitution.

“As per the Constitution hindering the work of the governor's office alone is a crime. When the Governor or Chief Minister violate guidelines, the opposition has got every right to fight.”

No one has got the powers to intervene into the day-to-day affairs of the government or take any decision be it in Puducherry or Tamil Nadu.

The Chief Minister also continued his allegations against Ms Bedi of hindering the developmental projects.

“Parliamentary Secretary to the CM had already moved the Court against the Lt.Governor and the Chief Minister will also do the same if necessary”, said Mr Narayanasamy.
