CHENNAI: With the BJP national chief Amit Shah visiting the neighbouring Union Territory of Puducherry, the BJP here has initiated a membership drive, hoping to impress the leader ahead of his visit to Tamil Nadu. The party's state president Dr. Tamilsai Soundararajan, who presided over a meeting of full-time workers in the Virugambakkam Assembly constituency on Monday at her residence in Saligramam, discussed ways to enrol new members at booth level. According to sources Mr. Shah is expected to visit the Arunachaleshwar temple at Tiruvannamalai and also pay a visit to Sri Ramana ashram in Tiruvannamalai besides the Aurobindo ashram in Puducherry on Tuesday before winding up his two-day programme in the Union Territory. He would return to New Delhi on June 30 after visiting Punjab. Mr. Shah is likely to visit Tamil Nadu for three days from Aug. 17, said sources.
