Summer camp at MRC is eye-opener for children
Ooty: An eight-day summer adventure camp for children from various parts of the country was organised by the Madras Regimental Centre(MRC) at Wellington near here which concluded on Saturday.
In a release issued in this regard by the MRC, it is stated that a total of 110 children attended the camp and participated in various adventure activities including rock climbing, horse riding, air rifle and pistol shooting, trekking, boating in the lake and other related activities.
In addition to this, the children conducted ‘Village Seva’ (Cleanliness Campaign) at the Jagathala village near Aruvankadu, that was aimed to spread awareness among the villagers about hygiene, sanitation and on healthy living.
The kid campers also extended their service for a day in 'Little Sister" Old Age Home at Coonoor to shower their love and care for the inmates there. The children also participated in a tree plantation drive at Wellington as part of environment protection.
The aim of this camp was to develop the spirit of adventure and social awareness in children to make them a better human being and as a responsible citizen.
The organisers hoped that the camp helped the kids on learning the significance of team spirit for their overall personality development towards more reasonable citizens.
