Local Military Authority builds gate on Trinity road

SCB says Army built gate without permit.

Hyderabad: The Local Military Authority (LMA) has constructed a gate across the road near Holy Trinity Church which is on C category land in the Secunderabad Cantonment.

To construct anything on C category land, the permission of the Cantonment Board is required.

However, according to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, no permission was given nor did they receive any letter requesting the same.

The residents going to and from Balaji Nagar, Yapral, Trimulgherry and Marredpally frequently use the thoroughfare on which the gate has been built.

The road has been closed for around six days, from May 20 to 26, while the gate was being constructed, and the residents were told to use alternative routes through 1 EME centre way or through Kowkur Gate during that period.

The road will be open to the public from Monday. Residents are questioning the need for the emergency construction of the gate by diverting traffic, when there were orders to reopen all the Cantonment roads.

And there are due procedures to be followed even for a temporary closure of the road.

Vice-president of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board J. Rama Krishna said that they were not approached by the LMA for the construction of the gate or for the temporary closure of the road.

LMA officials were not available for comment.
