People found cheating to be booked: Akun Sabharwal

The legal metrology department has booked 154 cases and seized property worth of Rs 2.35 crore.

Hyderabad: The Legal Metrology Department has been raiding seeds godowns in the state to prevent them from cheating farmers when they come to purchase fertilisers and seeds.

They end up paying for the quantity which they get from shopkeepers.

Legal Metrology controller Akun Sabharwal made it clear that shopkeepers who are caught indulging in such fraudulent practices would be booked under criminal cases and would face the toughest law.

In recent raids on the seed companies and traders, the legal metrology department has booked 154 cases and seized property worth of Rs 2.35 crore. In the last two days, the Legal Metrology officers have booked 89 cases and seized property worth of Rs 6.65 crore.
