Bengaluru: Parents protest hike in school fees
Bengaluru: Over 500 parents gathered outside the Presidency School in Kasturi Nagar and staged a protest against hike in school fees.
The parents alleged that the school has been demanding extra fee in the name of donation and trust funds, which amounts to Rs 41,000 a year. Every year it is increased.
This sum is exclusive of the education fee. Hence for a first grade child the school fee levied by the administration is about Rs 1,13,000.
Although the school demands such huge money as fees, the parents complain that its lacks basic amenities like clean washrooms, play area and sports facilities.
"We are paying extra money apart from the tuition fee, school uniforms, books and transportation charges," said an angry parent. "We demand the abolition of the annual fee of Rs 41,000," he added.
Since their demands were not met, the parents have decided to stage another protest against the school management on May 29.
