Amberpet: Illegal dumping of debris behind mishap

A GHMC town planning official claimed that the owner did not apply for permission for construction.

Hyderabad: Illegal dumping of loose soil at a parapet wall in Premnagar, Amberpet, led to the death of two persons on Saturday. A GHMC town planning official claimed that the owner did not apply for permission for construction. The official said it was a private construction and corporation officials were clueless about it.

According to another GHMC official, during the inspection it was found that there was unauthorised excavation of land and dumping of debris beside the compound wall of the electricity department office, due to which the wall collapsed.

Zonal commissioner C.N. Raghu Prasad stated that that the owner of the plot had been arrested and a criminal case filed against him. An exgratia of Rs 6.3 lakh from the labour welfare department, Rs 50,000 from the revenue department under Apadbhandu scheme and Rs 1 lakh from the Mayor's discretionary fund was announced by Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin for the victims.

He said that an inquiry has been ordered and disciplinary action would be taken against those responsible. He also visited the injured at Osmania General Hospital.
