HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government has directed all district education officers (DEOs) to ensure that all high schools, model schools and KGVBS hold celebrations marking State Formation Day with a string of cultural activities, flag hoisting, cleaning of schools, various competitions and prize distributions. The circular stated that action will be taken against schools that do not do this.
Official letters are being sent to all headmasters. Schools should clean their classrooms and the premises and decorate the doors and gate with Mamidi Thoranalu. Schools are also advised to organise elocution and sports competitions, games, and essay writing competitions, and organise and distribute prizes to the winners. Schools also will have to organise rallies and runs. The Telangana Progressive Teachers’ Federation (TPTF) has welcomed the celebrations but, as usual, raised some ifs and buts.
