AP government issues guidelines on judges' appointment

The AP government has called for objections and suggestions, if any, from the judicial officers regarding the draft guidelines.

Hyderabad: According to Supreme Court order issued as per the directions of the Centre, the AP government has issued draft guidelines prepared by the High Court on the sharing of judicial officers of district courts and subordinate courts between the two states of AP and TS.

The AP government has called for objections and suggestions, if any, from the judicial officers regarding the draft guidelines.

A writ petition was filed by the Telangana Judges' Association and a special leave petition was filed by the Telangana government regarding allocation of judicial officers of district courts and subordinate courts. The SC had directed that “the guidelines issued by the HC be treated as the draft guidelines for allotment of judicial officers to different cadres in the two states. The judicial officers can make suggestions.”

The SC also ordered the Centre “to examine the suggestions made by any one of the judicial bodies and prepare the guidelines in consultation with the HC on or before June 17, 2017 and place them before it on July 11, 2017.”
