Housing Corporation AE in ACB trap for taking bribe

Vishakapatnam: The ACB sleuths caught AP State Housing Corporation’s assistant engineer Venkateswara Rao red-handed, who was accepting a bribe from a beneficiary of the government housing scheme at Therlam in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday.

According to reports, the complainant, I. Rama Krishna of Thalamraju Peta in Therlam mandal, has been living by cultivation. A house was sanctioned to his mother-in-law under the ‘Jagananna Housing Scheme’. Venkateswara Rao demanded ₹20,000 as a bribe for sanctioned bills and to sanction pending bills under the ‘Jagananna Housing Scheme’. As Rama Krishna did not want to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB toll-free number. Later, he gave a written complaint to the DSP, ACB, Vizianagaram, on which a trap was laid against Venkatewara Rao.

While accepting the bribe amount, the ACB sleuths caught the assistant engineer red-handed at AP State Housing Corporation Ltd., Therlam mandal, Vizianagaram district, on Wednesday. The accused officer is being produced before the court for SPE and ACB, Visakhapatnam. Until now, ACB has conducted 23 traps on corrupt public servants this year, an official release said.
