Weekly special train to Bangalore
Kochi: The Railways have heeded to the request of the state government for urgent measures to meet heavy rush being experienced in the Bangalore sector.
A day after Principal Secretary (Transport) K R Jyothilal called on Member Traffic (Railway Board) Girish Pillai in New Delhi, the railways on Friday announced a special train in Kochiveli-Krishnarajapuram sector on every Sundays till June 30.
Kochuveli Krishnarajapuram weekly Suvidha Special Train (82644) will leave Kochuveli at 5 pm on Sundays – April 28, May 5, 12, 19, 26, June 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. The train will reach Krishnarajapuram at 8.45 am the next day.
“The train will have stoppages at Kollam, Kay-amkulam, Kottayam, Er-nakulam Town, Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Erode, Bangarpet and Whitefield. It will have two 3 Tier AC, eight second class Sleeper, two General coaches besides two luggage cum brake van,” a railway spokes-person said.
In the return direction, the Special Fare Special Train (06027) will leave Krishnarajapuram at 2 pm on Mondays (April 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27, June 3, 10, 17, 24 and July 1. The train will reach Koch-uveli at 6 am next day.
It will have stoppages at Whitefield, Bangarpet, Erode, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakul-am Town, Kottayam, Kayamkulam and Kollam.
In the aftermath of the Kallada assault incident, Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran took various initiatives to alleviate the difficulty experienced by passengers in the Ban-galore sector. He had directed the principal pecretary to meet the railway higher officials and req-uest for special and additional daily trains in the sector, especially on weekends.
