Hyderabad: Social media journalist held for defamation
Acting on the complaint the Golconda police booked Qureshi and the court remanded him to judicial custody for seven days.
Hyderabad: A social media journalist, Shahid Qureshi of ‘What’s Up’ news group, was arrested and remanded to judicial custody for seven days on a complaint from a retired IAS officer, Mr R.H. Khaja, for posting allegedly defamatory content.
Golconda police said that Qureshi in his show Uncut, had reported that a mosque in the premises of Aditya Royal Palm, a gated community in Tolichowki, was closed citing security reasons after Mr Khaja became president of welfare association. He demanded that the mosque be opened.
Acting on the complaint the Golconda police booked Qureshi and the court remanded him to judicial custody for seven days.
