GHMC seizes 15 erring city pubs

The other five pubs did not have occupancy certificate, trade licence, and were not in compliance with fire safety standards.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Friday re-inspected 15 pubs in the city and seized them for violating norms. Of these, 10 pubs were operating in unauthorised premises.

The other five pubs did not have occupancy certificate, trade licence, and were not in compliance with fire safety standards and did not have parking space.

Khairatabad, zonal commissioner Musharraf Faruqui told this newspaper that the pub owners had not fixed the shortcomings though they were given sufficient time after being issuing notices.

He said that inspections would continue in other areas of Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills as well to resolve the parking problems caused in residential areas at the earliest.

He said the corporation had seized Heart Cup Coffee, United Kitchens of India, Prost Brewpub, Karma, Chemistry, Stone Waters and Social Monkey for violating he norms.
