Hyderabad: Women top in Urdu officer applicants
Hyderabad: Women seem to be keen to bag the posts of Urdu officers announced by the State government. Of the total 5,549 applications received for the total 66 posts, 3,652 women have applied while the remaining are men.
The Telangana state government had released a notification for the appointment of 66 Urdu officers six of Grade I and the remaining 60 for Grade II posts.
The Urdu officers are to be posted at the government offices across the state to help translate the applications and documents in Urdu language.
“For some reason, a high number of women have applied for the posts. The recruitment examination will be held next month,” said Professor, S.A. Shukhoor, Director Telangana State Urdu Academy.
The Academy has also received 34 applications from backward classes, scheduled caste and tribe candidates.
Mohd. Farooq Taher, of Telangana Teachers Association, said that the numbers of girls studying in Urdu medium school in the city and districts are high as well.
“At higher educational level including Graduation and Post Graduation too there are very few male candidates who have studied Urdu language. It is a reason,” he said.
