Hyderabad High court lawyers demand end to bail at station-level
Police stations have now turned into settlement centres' with cops settling cases without bringing the accused before a court of law.
Hyderabad: Telangana lawyers on Thursday staged a protest before the Hyderabad High Court demanding that the state government immediately withdraw Section 41- A of the Cr. PC.
Scores of lawyers who gathered in front of the High Court gate with placards, alleged that Section 41-A (which envisages the bail at the station level) becomes a handy tool for the police to ‘mint’ money from the accused.
Mr. C Damodar Reddy, President of the Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association and Mr. Gandra Mohan Rao, a former office bearer of the association, said that with the introduction of Section 41 A, police stations have now turned into ‘settlement centres’ with cops settling cases without bringing the accused before a court of law.
