BJP, HM see DMK's design to destroy temple property'

At the same time the party also assured to recover the encroached properties of the Waqf Board.

Chennai: The Sangh Parivar is up in arms against the Opposition DMK for attempting to “plunder” the property belonging to temples while at the same time posing as a Good Samaritan in assuring to redeem the Waqf Board’s encroached properties, in its poll manifesto.

“This is nothing short of pseudo-secularism. In Tamil there is proverb: Oru kannula vennai, maru kannula sunnambu and true to this, the DMK is highly prejudiced towards the minorities and continues to hurt the Hindus,” BJP senior and party’s national executive member L. Ganesan has said reacting to the DMK’s poll assurances.

In its election manifesto, the DMK promised to form a high-level committee under a retired judge to look into the demands of people offering to buy the temple land within the legal framework. At the same time the party also assured to recover the encroached properties of the Waqf Board.

“This amounts to plundering the Hindu temples’ property. The announcement is a plot to destroy the temple properties and only with this objective in mind the DMK had encouraged its members to encroach upon temple lands. Apart from refusing to settle the rent arrears, the encroachers have gone to the court,” Hindu Munnani founder covenor Ramagopalan alleged. He claimed the DMK assurances not only displayed its double standards but also showed to the world that it is “enemy of the Hindus.”

“This only showed that for the DMK secularism is appeasing the minorities. Unlike such parties, the BJP never followed dual yardsticks in dealing with the Hindus or minorities. In fact, the BJP is more secular than all other parties,” Mr. Ganesan claimed.

Urging the electorate to reject the DMK, Mr. Ramagopalan said his organisation decided to work for the victory of the BJP which has accepted its demands on enacting legislations to prevent religious conversions and cow slaughter.
