2 killed in Hyderabad, rain takes city by surprise

The rain caught the IMD by surprise and it changed its heat wave forecast.

Hyderabad: Two persons were killed when they were struck by lightning in Shamshabad on Tuesday as parts of the city like Rajendranagar, Uppal Safilguda and Secunderabad witnessed sudden rainfall in the afternoon and evening.

The rain caught the IMD by surprise and it changed its heat wave forecast thus: “rain or thundershowers might occur towards the afternoon or evening for the next two days”.

Showers disrupt Karimnagar
Untimely rains and strong gales caused damage to standing crops and uprooted trees, disrupting traffic and supply of power in the city and in several mandals across the district on Tuesday. The rains destroyed tin-roofed and thatched houses in various parts. According to reports, certain mandals of Jagtial, Manthani, Sircilla and Karimnagar revenue divisions recorded moderate rainfall.

Rains also lashed In Karimnagar, hitting supply of electricity for hours due to broken electricity poles. Meanwhile, a 55-year-old shepherd was killed after being struck by lightening at Kollamaddi village in Gambheeraopet mandal. Three oxen died after being struck by lightening in Boinapalli and Gangadhara mandals.
