112 roads to be developed: K J George
Bengaluru: Development Minister K.J. George said as many as 112 roads in the city would soon be developed at a cost of Rs 260 crore. Addressing the reporters after a review meeting in BBMP on Tuesday, Mr George said that the PWD will take up the road works.
“We had floated tenders for 19 packages and works have begun on 16. Due to some technical reasons, works have not started under these packages.However, 112 roads will soon be developed,” he maintained.
Later, Mr George instructed the BBMP officials to co-ordinate with PWD engineers and monitor the works so that there was no delay in completion. He suggested that nodal officers should be appointed from both the departments for better co-ordination.
Plastic ban
Mr George instructed the KSPCB officials to issue guidelines to BBMP, police, RTO, revenue and commercial tax department on plastic ban. He said that all the departments should hold simultaneous awareness campaigns and crack down on factories and distributors who are illegally manufacturing and distributing plastic.
On the sidelines, he also instructed the BBMP officials to beef up the control room squad in order to tackle monsoon woes. He said ward engineers should ensure major drains and raja kaluves are desilted while a committee should be formed to come up with a contingency plan for monsoon.
