Vijayawada: Ganja hidden in bricks seized

Based on specific inputs, officers of DRI at Vijayawada launched an operation and intercepted a van at Enikepadu junction.

Vijayawada: DRI sleuths on Tuesday seized 134 kg ganja that was being transported concealed in fly ash bricks in a truck destined for Tamil Nadu.

Based on specific inputs, officers of DRI at Vijayawada launched an operation and intercepted a van at Enikepadu junction. The vehicle was carrying a load of fly ash bricks to Madurai. On suspicion, the fly ask bricks were broken and a packet said to contain ganja was revealed. Sleuths said that 65 fly ash bricks were loaded in the vehicle, and 65 packets of ganja weighing about 134.27 kg was found.

The ganja was loaded into vehicle at Sapparla in Vizag Agency. DRI officers said that the value of the seized ganja would be around Rs 26,85,400. Three persons were arrested.
