Three die in Vythiri mishap

Car collided with tipper between Vythiri and Thalapuzha.

Kozhikode: Three people were killed and another seriously injured in a road accident at Vythiri in Wayanad on Tuesday morning. Doctors treating the injured at a hospital in Kalpetta said his condition was serious.

The police said people travelling in the car were the natives of Malappuram, Tirur and identified the deceased as Tanalur Uruliath Kahar (28), Tirur Ponmundam Pannikora Sufyan (24) and Tanalur Thottummal Sabir (29). The injured Shameem was hospitalised soon after the incident.

They were on their way home from Bangalore when their car collided with a tipper lorry between Vythiri and Thalapuzha on the Kozhikode-Mysore section of the national highway around 8.15 am. The tipper lorry was coming from Kozhikode side. Two of them died on the spot, and Sabir breathed his last after an hour in hospital.

It took a long time for the police to identify them because any of them had an identification card.
