Hyderabad: Man convicted for rape gets 10 years jail

The convict has been identified as Waheed Khan (66), a retired employee at California in the USA, now living in Mithila Nagar in Banjara Hills.

Hyderabad: A 66-year-old man from the city, who was arrested on charges of sexual assault of a woman at his house, was convicted by the Tenth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court and was directed to undergo 10 years of imprisonment. His wife, who has supported the acts of the sexagenarian, was also convicted and asked to pay Rs 10,000 towards penalty by the court on Tuesday.

The convict has been identified as Waheed Khan (66), a retired employee at California in the USA, now living in Mithila Nagar in Banjara Hills. In 2006, a case was booked against him and his wife Faheem at Banjara Hills police station, following a complaint from a woman, who was working as a maid at the couple’s house.

The victim had complained that Waheed Khan had sexually assaulted her multiple times and Faheem supported her husband’s actions and asked the victim to act according to Waheed’s interests.

The police had then arrested Waheed and remanded him to judicial custody, while his wife went absconding. Later, she surrendered before the court. Three months later, he was released from the jail on a bail.

A charge sheet was filed before the Tenth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court by the police in 2011. Following a trial, the court issued orders convicting Waheed Khan and direc-ted him to undergo 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs 15,000 towards penalty, while his wife Faheem was convicted and asked to pay Rs 10,000 as fine.
