Bhopal: Four suspected Maoists including two women were on Tuesday morning gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar district of Sukma.
The encounter took place around six in the morning when Naxals opened indiscriminate fire on a search party comprising personnel of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), elite anti-Naxal wing of CRPF, near Karkaguda village under Chintalnar police station in the district, a senior police officer posted in Bastar told this newspaper.
The Naxal attack led to a fierce gun battle between ultras and security forces that lasted around an hour, police said.
Later, bodies of four Naxals in Maoist fatigue were recovered at the encounter site. Besides, one INSAS assault rifle and 2.303 rifles were recovered there. The bodies were yet to be identified, police said....
