Five nominations for Lok Sabha rejected in Khammam
Khammam: Nomination papers of five candidates that were filed for Khammam Lok Sabha constituency were rejected due to various reasons.
The nomination of CPM leader Kasani Ilaiah was rejected on the ground that he was marked as an alternative candidate of the CPM and the same was written in Form- A and Form- B. So, the candidature of CPM candidate B. Venkat was declared valid and the nomination of Ilaiah was rejected.
Vankayalapati Nageswara Rao, who filed nominations on behalf of Bharatiya Anarakshit Party, was also rejected due to lack of sufficient proposer names. As per RP Act Section 33(1), a candidate should propose the names of 10 voters, including their signatures. Me Rao got only one proposer and failed to fulfill the norms.
The nomination of Martha Rajaiah of Telangana Karmika Rythu Rajyam Party was rejected as he did not give correct proposers and the names of people that he gave did not match with the voters’ list. There were also defects on his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission.
Gaddula Subba Rao, Independent candidate, failed to get signatures of 10 proposers. He got only nine proposers. As per the norm, a candidate should submit the names of 10 proposers, with their signatures, who had their names in the voters’ list.
Another Independent Gadala Narasimha Rao had not filled up all the columns in the nomination form and he failed to give full details. Due to this, his nomination papers were rejected.
The nominations of recognised parties such as the Congress, BJP, TRS and CPM candidates were accepted by the Election Commission.
The nominations of 29 candidates, including Independents, and those who belonged to political parties have been declared valid by the Commission.
