Fear of TRS rap keeps stars off campaign trail
RAJAHMUNDRY: The efforts of Tollywood to take up an aggressive campaign for the polls in AP to help Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu come back to power and offer a “return gift” to his Telangana state counterpart Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao seem to have been thwarted by the TRS regime that has allegedly issued a diktat to the film industry bigwigs to refrain from doing so.
Currently both the Chief Ministers are involved in a clash over several issues and Mr Naidu has vowed to give Mr Rao a “return gift”. Top film personalities including actors, producers, directors and senior artistes from Tollywood had planned to visit AP to aggressively take part in the ongoing campaign in favour of the TD to help Mr Naidu come back to power.
However, the plan of Tollywood to campaign for the TD in AP, was leaked to the TRS regime and its leaders have now issued a diktat to the film personalities to not go ahead with their plan and they have even allegedly threatened the film personalities that their properties located in Telangana would be in trouble if they failed to follow their direction.
A Tollywood personality from AP said, “Though the film fraternity had decided to campaign for the TD in AP to help Mr Naidu to come back to power and develop Telugu film industry in a big way in the state, the TRS regime has issued a diktat to them not to take it up and has even threatened them, saying that their properties and business interests will be at stake in TS.”
