Election Commission to use ballot paper for Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat

Nizamabad: In view of the 245 nominations filed for Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, officials are making arrangements for polling. Returning Officer, District Collector M. Rammohan Rao conducted a meeting with few contesting candidates here on Tuesday over the scrutiny of nomination papers. The officials issued notices to a few farmers, who had filed their nominations, for verification of the papers.

Election Commission has decided to use ballot paper for Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency. According to official sources, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used if the contesting candidates number does not exceed 93, but in Nizamabad contesting candidates number may be high even after the scrutiny of the nomination papers.

Speaking to this correspondent, Mr M. Ganga Reddy, a farmer from Munipally in Jakranpally mandal, who has filed his nomination papers for the MP seat said that he would continue to remain in the fray.

“Winning or losing is not our priority, we aim to highlight our plight to the Government,” he said. Filing of nominations for Parliament elections is not an individual decision, it is a collective decision of the farming community, he added.

Meanwhile, Minister for Roads and Buildings and Transport, Mr V. Prashanth Reddy, TRS MLAs Mr A. Jeevan Reddy, Mr Bigala Ganesh Gupta, Mr Bajireddy Govardhan, MLC Mr D. Rajeshwar, former Speaker Mr K. R. Suresh Reddy have all said that BJP and Congress leaders had provoked the farmers to file for mass nominations. The leaders found fault with BJP general secretary Mr Ram Madhav for the false assurance of forming a Turmeric Board in Nizamabad. The TRS leaders have said that the people of Nizamabad will decide the fate of the parties on April 11.
