Eight aspirants failed in English but are not aware of it.

VIJAYAWADA: The over-confidence of Group-I (2016) candidates has become viral. Eight aspirants failed to clear General English but attended the interview conducted by the APPSC, that concluded recently. P. Uday Bhaskar, chairman of APPSC, said, “There is no problem as the interviews were organised in 1:2 ratio. We will disqualify those who attended the interview without qualification at the time of verification.” The APPSC has released a notification for 78 posts of Group-I in December, 2016 and the marks of the interviews and mains were released on March 23.

Around 98,000 candidates in the state applied for the 78 posts and the prelims were held on May 7, 2017. From those, 2,392 candidates were shortlisted for mains and they were called for interview in January, 2018. After interviews, 146 candidates were finally shortlisted in 1:2 ratio. The General English subject will be for 150 marks and OC candidates have to score 60 marks to be qualified, OBC candidates must get 52.55 marks and SC, ST candidates have to get 45 marks. According to sources, the eight candidates who didn’t qualify in General English, secured between 38-56 marks out of 150.

“As three consecutive days, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, were holidays, we will be able to check the list of qualified candidates only on Tuesday. The list of marks scored in General English was released on Friday and the issue of non-qualification in the subject has cropped up suddenly. We released the marks list of mains and interview but not the selection list. The final selection is yet to take place and during that process, the unqualified will be removed from the list,” P. Uday Bhaskar, chairman, APPSC told Deccan Chronicle. The aspirants are eagerly waiting for the final selection lists of mains and interview.
