Kerala: Long wait for postal service test result
The annual examination was not held during 2013 - 2015 allegedly due to the apathy of the postal department officials.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nearly 1,700 postal department employees in the country who wrote the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion to the postal services Group B cadre in India Post in December 2016 are still waiting for the results because of a case filed by an employee before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Ernakulam. Usually, the results are published within three months of the examination. The notification was issued on October 7, 2016 and the examination was held on December 18. A total of 2,500 inspectors and assistant superintendents belonging to 23 postal circles in the country had written the all-India exam having two papers of three-hour duration each. Out of them, 85 - 90 are from Kerala. Once they clear the exam, they will get the Indian Postal Service category appointments with a salary hike of Rs 10, 000 - Rs 15, 000.
An assistant superintendent who came to know of his results after the exam keys were announced told DC that the case before the CAT was filed by Mr. Ajith Kurian, assistant superintendent at the chief postmaster-general's office in Thiruvananthapuram, seeking to cancel the results as the department had held the exam clubbing five years' vacancies together. "CAT has not passed any judgment though the final hearing of the case was held on March 2," he said. Ms Sharda Sampath, chief postmaster-general, Kerala, told DC that the ball was in the court of the top brass of India Post. Mr Ananta Narayan Nanda, union secretary, postal department, who had earlier served as the PMG, Kerala circle, told DC, "due to the litigation, we had to withhold the results. We hope to announce them before the court goes for its summer break on April 16," he said.
