Group-2 exams and constable recruitment tests of Telangana police postponed

The Group -2 exams were slated for April 24 and 25.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday postponed the Group-2 exams and constable recruitment tests.

The Group -2 exams were slated for April 24 and 25. The state Public Service Commission has been directed to conduct the exam after two months, a press release from CMO said.

Mr Rao also directed police to postpone the constable recruitment test in view of the clash of dates with the RRB exam scheduled for April 3. The government postponed the Group 2 exams following pressure from various quarters.

Telangana to hike Group-2 posts to 1,000
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao postponed the Group-2 exams due to pressure from political parties like the BJP, BC associations and a section of candidates.

Students wanted more time to prepare for the exams in view of the new syllabus with emphasis on Telangana history. The government is likely to increase the number of posts for Group-2 recruitment to 1,000. The initial notification was for 439 posts for which 5.64 lakh applied.

Nearly 5.36 lakh candidates applied for 9,613 constable posts and 1.38 lakh for the 539 sub-inspector posts for which the test for which was to be held on April 17.

There were concerns from candidates from rural areas regarding emphasis on English language in the SI test, and the government wants it addressed.
