Tiger sighted near Neerala village

The forest department has deployed its staff at Neerala village to monitor the situation.

Adilabad: Villagers of Neerala and Sundaragiri in Jainad mandal in Adilabad district have come across a tiger on outskirts of Neerala village while it was crossing the main road between Bela and Adilabad on Tuesday at 10.30 pm. It is not confirmed whether the tiger found at Neerala is the same as the one sighted moving near Tamsi (K) village in Bheempur mandal.

It is said the tiger has been moving in the area along the river Penganga, Laxmipur barrage canal and the Sathnala project area in search of drinking water, as hot summer has already set in. A car owner captured the image of the tiger on his mobile when he saw the wild animal. The forest department has deployed its staff at Neerala village to monitor the situation.

Pendore Rama of Sundaragiri has complained that the tiger attacked his cow on Wednesday morning and it had been treated by an animal husbandry doctor.

The tiger reportedly attacked two other cows in Sundaragiri village.

Officials say the tiger might have come to this area for drinking water from the Laxmipur canal.
