JNTUA initiates process to establish software centre

As part of the 10th convocation, the varsity will honour INSA senior scientist Prof. B. Yegananarayana with a doctorate.

Anantapur: Software development centre of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur will also extend the centre’s facility to required organisations, JNTUA vice chancellor Prof. S. Srinivasa Kumar said. “We have already initiated the process of establishing a software development centre to develop the software required for university purposes and the facility would also be extended to organisations from outside who can enjoy our services,” he briefed.

JNTUA will be celebrating its 10th annual convocation fete on Wednesday. The vice chancellor has said that the JNTUA was initiating all developmental activities to meet the high standards and to compete with national level institutions. Nearly '60 cr. worth of buildings are in various stages of completion. They are being built to accommodate various wings in the university. The University has initiated the process of installation of solar panels of 1 MW at Kalikiri Engineering College and Anantapur Engineering College campuses to steer them away from escalating electricity charges.

Vice chancellor Prof Srinivasa Kumar also said that JNTUA web portal was redesigned and an integrated platform was provided for all directorates of the university. In addition, an university App had been initiated to provide detailed necessary information to the mobile App. In the view of land scarcity in the JNTUA campus, the government has allotted 30.91 acres of land from the government polytechnic college.

A separate pipeline was laid leading towards the Kalikiri Engineering College campus in Chittoor district in the wake of severe drinking water problem and now the campus gets 9 litres of water through a separate pipeline, he said.

As part of the 10th annual convocation, the varsity will honour INSA senior scientist Prof. B. Yegananarayana with an honorary doctorate on the occasion. About 22,143 students will be awarded with various kinds of degrees.
