Bengaluru: PRR survey report by March

Funds have been allotted in the budget. Delayed project could take off.

Bengaluru: Work could soon begin on the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) in the city as the re-survey report on the project is expected to be submitted by the first week of March to the government, according to sources in the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).

A senior officer of the agency said that once the report was approved by the government, a date would be set to begin work on construction of the PRR. “There was a delay in submitting the survey report due to technical reasons. But now, we have almost finalised it and will submit it soon,” he assured.

The survey was carried out again for the project as the earlier survey done a few years ago was no longer valid due to the changes on the ground. Hopes have risen that it could finally take off as the government has also allocated the required funds for it in the recent state budget. “As the money has been sanctioned, we will have to carry out the required formalities so that the construction work can begin,” the officer said, adding that a meeting of officers of various departments would be held to discuss how the PRR could be built without causing too much inconvenience to the public.

“We will have a meeting with the BWSSB to see if there are any water or drain pipes running below the ground in the project area to make sure they are not damaged when digging for it. Similarly, we will meet with the traffic police to discuss ways to ensure that the vehicular movement is not affected,” the officer explained.
