MK Stalin, Ramadoss condemn boycott of Tamil invocation song

Mr Stalin said, The Tamil invocation song (Tamil anthem) was insulted yet another time and the incident is strongly condemnable.

CHENNAI: Opposition leaders including DMK working president M.K. Stalin and PMK founder Dr Ramadoss have condemned the boycott of Tamil invocation song at an event attended by union ministers at IIT Madras on Monday. In a statement, Mr Stalin said, “The Tamil invocation song (Tamil anthem) was insulted yet another time and the incident is strongly condemnable.” He pointed out that in government functions Tamil invocation will be played in the beginning and national anthem will be sung at the end.

“We cannot accept any clarifications for the incident. The union government should tender an apology and make sure such incidents will not occur in the future,” he urged. PMK founder Dr Ramadoss said the state government should take steps for making singing of Tamil anthem mandatory in all the functions of IIT, Madras. MDMK general secretary Vaiko and CPI (M) state secretary K Balakrishnan have condemned the rendering of the Sanskrit song and said it was not acceptable to 'impose' Hindi and Sanskrit. Vaiko also demanded stringent action be taken against those responsible for it.
