Hyderabad: Brahmins seek apology from anchor

Hyderabad: Remarks in a programme aired on a Telugu news channel have drawn the ire of the Brahmin community in the city on Monday. Members of a few organisations held a protest in front of the channel office near VST, Vidyanagar road.

In a programme called Mallanna Mucchatlu, the show anchor made objectionable comments about Brahmins. He played a news clip of a spiritual discourse by a religious guru on Datta Jayanti and then abused the Brahmins directly.

This video went viral on a few messaging platforms, evoking criticism. A few Brahmin elders alleged that the same channel had earlier aired similar programmes targeting Brahmins, alleged M.V.R. Sharma, editor of Darshanam magazine.

They have asked channel representatives to warn that particular news anchor to mend his ways and also provide a clarification.
