Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation plea against plot owners

GHMC moved a contempt case against plot owners in Women Cooperative Housing Society of Jubilee Hills.

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation moved a contempt case against plot owners in Women Cooperative Housing Society of Jubilee Hills in the city seeking to punish them for violating court orders and preventing its officials from performing their duty.

Corporation Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy moved the case stating that M. Laxmi Bai, Aruna Bai, M. Raghavendranath and M. Sumalatha, owners of plot No. 188. The society had moved Hyderabad High Court in 2017 challenging a notice issued by the GHMC to prevent them from carrying out construction in open space earmarked by the GHMC.

He submitted that the High Court had granted an interim order by directing the GHMC and the petitioners to maintain status quo.

He submitted that despite of order, the petitioners were carrying out construction in the open space and when their officials visited the place to stop the works, M. Raghavendranath and his henchmen prevented them and abused them using foul language.
