Karnataka MLA's gunman loses service weapon, files plaint
BENGALURU: A City Armed Reserve (CAR) police constable, who was deputed as gunman to Devanahalli JDS MLA Pilla Munishamappa, has filed a complaint with the Yalahanka police stating that his service pistol has been stolen.
In his complaint filed on Saturday, the gunman, Narasimhamurthy, stated that the MLA had resigned his position recently and JD (S) National President H. D. Deve Gowda had visited the MLA’s residence to persuade him to withdraw the
resignation.
“A large number of supporters had gathered during the visit. Later, the MLA had also visited Mr Deve Gowda’s house, where again large number of people were present. My service weapon may have been stolen at any one of these places,” he stated in the complaint.
The police, however, suspect that Mr. Narasimhamurthy would have lost the pistol much earlier. “He had filed the complaint four days after the incident, instead of reporting it on the day it was lost or stolen. This has raised suspicion on his claims. We are yet to question him in this regard and we will recommend for disciplinary action against him for dereliction of duty,” an official said.
