Chennai: Triggering yet another bout of speculation about his political aspirations, popular actor Udayanidhi Stalin has turned to Twitter to launch a broadside against CM Jayalalithaa, accusing her of insensitivity to public sufferings and promoting sycophancy amid her lieutenants.
Following the caustic style often used by his iconic grandpa M. Karunanidhi to take on political rivals, he penned a birthday greeting for Jayalalithaa in poetry form, laced with sharp sarcasm and tweeted its link for his many followers to see.
Among other things, Udayanidhi accused the AIADMK chief of being “happily unconcerned” even as the people suffered in rain-floods and the youth languished without employment.
The tweet has gone viral, particularly since the star-son of DMK treasurer Stalin has a huge fan following. His fan club has a large number of DMK members—for instance, its general secretary Anbil Mahesh is the grandson of the late DMK minister Anbil Dharmalingam.
There was quite some excitement in the political corridors when news broke out that half-a-dozen people had filed applications at the DMK headquarters seeking party ticket for Udayanidhi for the Thousand Lights constituency.
Just when that poll ticket buzz died down has now come this tweet, once again causing excitement among the political watchers wondering if Udayanidhi’s poem is really an innocent birthday greeting or it has something to do with his political DNA.
