Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Friday lauded the prizewinning police champions in various All-India professional and sports competitions, even as she admired the coveted medals and trophies they had brought home.
In appreciation of their outstanding achievements, Ms Jayalalithaa, at a function at the secretariat here, gave away cash prizes to the extent of Rs.1,46,80,000 to the 134 police personnel-winners of various events.
The state DGP, Ashok Kumar, who was among the top police officials present on the occasion, explained to the Chief Minister the different medals and cups won by the state police personnel against each category of events.
