Blackout: Minister Sharanprakash Patil asks Minto Eye Hospital to explain
Bengaluru: Minister for Medical Education Dr. Sharanprakash Patil has sought an explanation from the director of Minto Eye Hospital for not making alternative arrangements to supply power when the BESCOM transformer develops a fault. Following a glitch in the transformer, power supply to the hospital was disrupted and using candles, the hospital staff had performed emergency services for patients.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr. Patil said, “It was the duty of hospital authorities to make alternative arrangements to install generators.
Hospital authorities must use their wisdom and should tide over any crisis. But in this case, the authorities failed to apply their minds”, Mr. Patil said. “I have instructed the director of the hospital to install generators and use them when power supply gets disrupted. Meanwhile I have also sought an explanation from the hospital for not making alternative arrangements”, Mr. Patil replied to a question.
Regarding implementation of the Act which making rural service compulsory for doctors who have obtained MBBS through CET, Mr. Patil said that since the High Court has stayed the Act, it can be implemented only after the court disposes the cases filed by the doctors.
